Shavuot Coloring Book

An Art-Nouveau inspired coloring book for adults and kids!

I collaborated with my good friend and incredible artist, Malka Michaela Barshishat to create this gorgeous, art-nouveau inspired coloring book for the holiday of Shavuot. The pictures are intricate and detailed enough for adult coloring-book enthusiasts, but are perfect for the whole family!

Fun fact: Malka is originally from The Czech Republic, as was Alphonse Mucha, one of the leading figures of the Art Nouveau movement! We both go crazy for this style, and hope you will too!

This coloring book is a celebration of the giving of the Torah, the bringing of the bikurim (the first fruits brought as a gift to the Temple), the shivat Ha’minim (special fruits of the Land of Israel), the custom of eating dairy foods and decorating the the house with flowers, and the Book of Ruth.

We hope you will enjoy these hand-drawn pages, and that they will make your holiday more special!

Quick Daily Painting #1: Baby Moses

I’ve started a new art challenge along with a group of Jewish artists on FB. The goal is to do a quick painting in about 30 minutes, with a Jewish theme for the month of January. I really want to explore some biblical scenes and personalities so, for my first painting I chose a scene that I find incredibly powerful and moving, as a mother…

I hope the subject is obvious but for those who are not familiar with it, it’s baby Moses and his mother  Yocheved, right before she sets him afloat on the Nile to save him from Pharaoh’s soldiers. This 9×12″ watercolor took close to an hour, so I will have to try to simplify my subject matter next time!

Vashti: What are you staring at?!

Please share with your friends! Happy Purim!!

VASHTI UPDATE: I have been receiving comments from people that they’d like to have Vashti without a tail, so I have added it below.  If you are curious to know more about Vashti and why she had a tail (I always found her to be one of the more intriguing Purim characters) there’s a great history of Vashti here on Aish.com. It’s worth reading! Happy Purim :)
