The art of Dena Ackerman is immediately identified by its warm, engaging style and technical expertise. Inspired by the simple joys and struggles of life, Dena creates scenes that are cozy, nostalgic, and emotionally compelling.

Dena is a traditional artist, working in a variety of mediums. She specializes in watercolor and acrylic painting, graphite, colored pencil, and ink drawings. Her latest obsession is playing with acrylic markers.

Dena’s favorite things in life are also her favorite things to paint! Books, cats, gardens, colorful interiors, beautiful objects, patterns, and most of all, people. 

Fine Art

Working as a professional artist since 2010, Dena has created hundreds of custom paintings for private collectors, business, and publishers worldwide.

Her portraits are a celebration of love, family, and happy memories. Dena specializes in achieving a perfect likeness, while expertly capturing each person’s personality and unique beauty.

Illustration

A blend of humor, expert storytelling, and attention to detail make Dena a beloved illustrator. Her work appears in over 40 children’s books, dozens of book covers, and popular children’s magazines. She also creates art for business, advertisements, editorials, and social media accounts.

Teaching

Dena shares a wealth of knowledge and encouragement with her students, both online and in person. She’s particularly good at breaking down complicated techniques into simple, easy to follow steps.
